A Stretch of the Imagination

Theatre Play Identity

A Stretch of the Imagination is an iconic Australian play by Jack Hibberd. It features the day to day of Monk O'Neill, an aging misanthrope living in a run-down hut on One Tree Hill. Through his rambling monologues, Monk is revealed to be a contradictory man–crass and poetic, biased and enlightened, awaiting and actively rejecting his final sunset.

This identity design expands on Monk's idiosyncratic poetic speech and the dust storm that is his stream of consciousness. Beyond the billposter, the visual treatment is applied to theatre programme booklets, a staging sculptural piece, as well as an interactive installation.
